SHOPPING APPS: SWIGGY/ZOMATO MATCH UP

SWIGGY and ZOMATO are two of the largest fast food delivery companies here in India. Let's take a look at some differences between these apps.

SWIGGY
The SWIGGY app gives four general service options, which are categorized as: Food, Instamart, Dineout, and Genie. Take a look at what each of these are used for:


FOOD 
This part of the app is used to order local fast food. There are many food options from restaurants with various cuisines to choose from. 


INSTAMART
Instamart is used for groceries. Zomato generally has a good range of items for quick delivery. This is especially helpful if you are in a pinch and need an item last minute or just don't feel like going out to a store.


DINEOUT
This option is if you are looking for a restaurant to go out to in person. If you are not familiar with the local places or would like to try something new this is a good option to locate your new favorite restaurant.


GENIE
This is a very cool option if you would like to send someone something. The Genie sends a carrier to pick up the item from your home and then deliver it to the person and location you specify.  


ZOMATO
By comparison ZOMATO has less options and services available. On the main page the categories listed are: Delivery and Dining. There is also an icon named 'Money' wear you can control your virtual wallet within the app.


DELIVERY 
The DELIVERY services on ZOMATO function the same way as the FOOD one on SWIGGY does. Within this page there are several ways to search for the cuisine or food items you want to order. 

For example, as you scroll down on the main page you find options listed in various categories to narrow your search. You can search by selecting a specific food type dish. 


Scroll further and you can use a sort option that helps narrow down which restaurants carry your specifications.


DINING
The DINNING page on the app functions similar to SWIGGY's DINEOUT section. There are some cool additional things you can do on ZOMATO though. For example you can sort the restaurants that you can book a table with, specify you would like an outdoor table, serves alcohol, open now, and several other options.


Both apps provide good services, can be helpful and are in general pretty reliable. If you would like to test these apps out you can find them where you download apps on your phone.
